Mission

Confessional Bibliology exists to defend, explain, and apply the Reformed doctrine of Holy Scripture and its preservation for the glory of God and the edification of His church. It is a lay theological publication: it is not a church court, does not exercise ecclesiastical discipline, and does not claim authority over Christ’s officers or congregations.

Governing Commitments

• Scripture is the self-attesting Word of the Triune God.
• The extant canonical Scriptures are infallible.
• God has preserved His Word by singular care and providence.
• The Hebrew and Greek Scriptures are authentic.
• The church receives and recognizes rather than creates Scripture.
• The Holy Spirit speaking in Scripture is the final judge in all controversies of religion.
• Human reason, historical research, and textual methods are ministerial, not magisterial.

Method

The publication begins with positive doctrine, establishes its scriptural and confessional basis, defines important terms, verifies primary sources, states opposing positions in their strongest credible form, and distinguishes documentary fact, inference, theological judgment, speculation, and claims about motive.

Accountability

The publication’s conclusions are correctable. Scripture is infallible; this publication is not. Factual and interpretive errors should be documented and corrected conspicuously.
